July 4, 2006

I made it to the island a little bit before noon. Looks the way it did last time, except there are more flowers now. The old coast guard station was set up as promised. There is a bunk bed, and a small kitchen with a gas stove and small refridgerator. It feels like cabin camping. I'll be eating Franks and Beans tonight, Eddie, and maybe every night just for the hell of it. Hotdogs in the middle of nowhere always taste better.

The work station looks good. I got up and running on the wireless right away. The tracking system for the island seems to be working well. Alarm system booted up. It feels a little like Jurassic Park out here.

No sightings yet. I'm going out in a little while to set up the rest of the recording equipment. I'm anxious to get some data, but I also feel like there is nothing but time out here. The sun never sets, and there is no one but me. It will be a strange kind of Independence Day. The first one I've spent that felt like it had some meaning to it in a long while.

Farley is making himself at home, chasing squirrels and digging holes in the sand. I'm glad for the company.

Alright Eddie. My love to Susan and the girls, and D.C. Watch some fireworks for me.
